Immigration Lawyers: Adjustment of Status

Application to become a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.

The status adjustment process

The process to adjust your status generally involves several steps, including:

  1. Determine your eligibility by reviewing your visa category, your current immigration status, and your compliance with immigration laws.
  2. File Form I-485, the Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, along with all required supporting documents.
  3. Attend a biometrics appointment where you will provide fingerprints, photographs and signatures to verify identity.
  4. Attend an in-person interview with USCIS, where they will review your application and confirm your eligibility.
  5. USCIS will make a decision on your adjustment of status application.

Our experienced immigration attorneys offer personalized support throughout the adjustment of status process.
